Situation
OK. Let's be a bit truthful here. This is the Headland Country Club that the CEO of Webbering has been a member of since the early 1970's. When we first got into doing websites, some of the board members, as well as our CEO's playing partners, ask if Webbering could put them on the web.
Challenge
Like most first time clients, content was nil. We were beginning with a blank slate with board members that had no clue about the internet. In fact, some did not even own computers.
Solution
Like most first time clients, obtaining some core content was the initial problem so we created custom graphics about the site and the course including layouts of each hole with descriptive information on how to play each hole. We took photos of the course, obtained details on membership and pricing as well as information on tournament results with photos of winners for 2003 up to August when we began development. This was a hard-code HTML site initially. Today the style / look of the original site would be considered 'bland' and we would agree. It's a learning curve for everyone including ourselves and, after all, it was in 2003!
Update
In April 2008, we moved the site to a CMS based system, added a calendar component, weather modules and RSS feed modules for golfing news. We updated the style of the site to bring a more pleasing look with improved navigation.
In Mar 2010, we upgraded the CMS, modified a 'golfing' template to match up with the Headland Country Club look, upgraded weather and calendar components, added some dynamic slideshows and improved the navigation using two different navigation areas.
Results
Headland Country Club has a website that allows them to promote the golf course and disseminate information to the public as well as members. Webbering continues to maintain the site in a timely manner with updated content as supplied by Headland Country Club.
