Situation
Donnie Smith, Mayor of Headland in 2004, contracted with Webbering to create a website for the Headland Municipal Airport as he liked the work we did on the Headland Aviation website, which was the FBO (fixed base operator) at the Airport.
Challenge
The airport was undergoing extensive changes due to the development of an Airport Industrial Park and runway extensions so there was some content available. Webbering would have to research and create much of the content.
Solution
We looked at other airport sites and was able to register FlyHeadland.org. As this was the original site, every page was hardcoded. We setup information on what services were provided, added a history of the airport, created an animated graphic for the heading, added galleries of photos that we took of the airport and the facilities that was offered. We included information on the industrial sites that were available.
In addtion, we improved the search engine ranking of the website over the first year that we managed the site.
Update
In Apr 2006, we did a redesign of the airport to bring a new look to the site. We streamlined the content and navigation as well as cleaned up the underlying code due to the emergence of new standards.
In May 2008, we did a completely new website using a CMS application for ease of maintnenance, gave the site a more modern look with improvement of all graphics. We added a calendar and rotating content for dynamic presentation of key features at the airport.
Results
Fly Headland, the City of Headland Municipal Airport, has a website that meets the primary needs of providing information about the airport in an attractive format. There is an upcoming redesign in Nov 2010.
